On Friday 22nd February 2008, Twyford Tots Nursery was awarded the 'Gold Shropshire Healthy Eating Award' which recognises our commitment to providing all our children with healthy and nutritious meals, snacks and drinks.We then went on in April to be recognised as a 'Breastfeeding friendly' provider.We were presented with our award by the Mayor of Shrewsbury.
'Tiddly Tots Yoga' have joined us at Twyford Tots and are delivering a weekly class to our youngest babies. Our babies and staff thoroughly enjoy this classes !!
'Sing and Sign' is a nationally recognized programme which teaches adults how to encourage babies early communication by 'baby signing' and is a growing phenomenon.
While a baby is pre-verbal or while speech is emerging but still unclear our nursery staff can only rely on intelligent guesswork for the grunting,pointing and grabbing that communication often consists of.In the nursery environment away from you as their parents,we want our babies to feel totally secure and understood!
Signing will help all our babies recognize and respond to many words routinely used in the nursery as they will have a visual cue to help them focus and remember.
As baby signing offers many benefits in a childcare setting we have become the 1st nursery in Shropshire to adopt and deliver the programme.
On Thursday 21st June 2007 we had our 'Investors in People' re-assessment.
Our assessor described us as 'superb' and 'second to none' with excellent practices in place.We are all very proud of our acheivement and intend to keep providing all our staff with opportunities for continual professional development which in turn will result in the continual provision of top quality Child Care.
